PROJECT INFORMATION

Representing an $18.4 billion capital investment, this ultra-advanced manufacturing facility was designed to support high-volume production of next-generation semiconductor technology. Mega-scale fabrication plants require an unparalleled density of industrial services and structural systems to maintain pristine cleanroom environments and manufacturing precision. To bring this massive industrial hub online, Draftech was engaged as the specialist BIM consultancy. Our mandate was to bridge the gap between heavy engineering models and precise, rapid field execution, ensuring the digital asset was completely optimized for high-velocity fabrication and assembly.

WHAT WE DID

Draftech took command of the digital fabrication pipeline, establishing the rigorous standards necessary to transform coordinated MEP models into a high-volume manufacturing output. We engineered a robust workflow to generate comprehensive fabrication sheet packs, producing highly detailed spool drawings that isolated individual runs of ductwork, pipework, and containment alongside automated component schedules. Recognizing the massive value of off-site construction, Draftech pioneered the development of detailed off-site assembly drawings specifically for complex structural multi-service supports.

To eliminate on-site guesswork, our team designed general arrangement drawings that paired every tagged assembly with explicit spatial coordinate points, allowing field teams to utilize robotic total stations for pinpoint positioning. Crucially, we shifted the drawing office from manual drafting to an automated ecosystem. By developing custom scripting and programming tools within the BIM environment, Draftech automated sheet creation, element annotation, and metadata injection—virtually eliminating manual repetition and maximizing data integrity.

OVERCOME CHALLENGES

The project's sheer velocity demanded the generation of hundreds of fabrication and assembly sheets daily. However, the production pipeline was fundamentally bottlenecked by a total lack of structured templates and unified standards. Detailing teams were relying on fragmented legacy workflows, leading to constant quality assurance failures, human errors, and inconsistent submittals that threatened the overarching construction timeline.

To stabilize and accelerate the drawing office, Draftech developed a definitive set of benchmark drawings that aligned BIM capabilities with practical on-site construction standards. We deployed unified Revit templates and published exhaustive procedural documentation governing all sheet metadata and graphical presentation. With the technical baseline secure, we redesigned the QA procedures directly around these new standards to intercept errors before submission. Finally, Draftech deployed custom automation scripts across the coordination team. This multi-layered intervention established an unshakeable standard of model quality while shrinking standard 40-hour detailing cycles down to just 4 hours, ensuring flawless document delivery that matched the factory's aggressive schedule.
